My daughter has struggled over the past 5 years with Bipolar, depression, self mutilation, addiction and self worth. While in her third hospitalization, she discovered writing. She is currently working on a compilation of her struggles and journals. If you or someone you know has traveled this same road, please take a moment to click the corresponding link to the right and read her words. Maybe you can find a reason to “reach for faith”.

Dear Danna,
I found your story very touching and inspiring. I suffered from PTSD for 18 months after my mother passed away and my girlfriend is clinically depressed – I know the world of mental illness up close and personal. I know that such ailments are very hard to live with and any attempt to cope with them is, to my eyes, truly heroic.
If there was anything I could say to your daughter, knowing myself at least one good example of a young girl who’s bi-polar is:
Try to look at the world the way it really is, don’t seek magical cures to your wounds, but instead, try to learn as much as possible about the world you live in and the condition you’re suffering from, and using your experience, live life the best way you can.
Good luck – to both of you!
Regards,
Shai.
